Hamilton Band to headline Roma Picnics

24 January, 2019 • General, Roma Picnic Races

Fresh from taking first prize in Brisbane’s biggest reality singing competition, Lai Utovou of Hamilton Band is heading west to headline the Roma Picnic Races weekend on March 29 and 30.

Mr Utovou took home $100,000 in prize money when he won Channel 7’s All Together Now in November with a rendition of Bruno Mars’ Uptown Funk.

A former Fiji Idol winner, Mr Utovou forms part of Hamilton Band – currently recognised as one of Brisbane’s best corporate bands.

With an amazing tonal flexibility, a soaring vocal range, and a stage energy that is unequaled anywhere in Australia, Mr Utovou draws from a vast array of musical influences to deliver memorable performances at every event.

The four piece Hamilton Band headed to Roma will feature Mr Utovou as the male vocalist and percussionist along with a lead female vocalist, guitarist, trumpet and keys player.

Roma Picnic Races Co-President Penelope Arthur said Hamilton Band would be the perfect fit for both the races on March 30 and the Black Toyota Black Tie Ball on Friday March 29.

“We’re getting our Cuba on at this year’s Black Tie Ball with a very cool Havana Nights theme – the perfect fit for Hamilton Band,” she said.

“It’s actually a real coup to get Hamilton Band in Roma – they have been highly sought after for weddings and big events in Brisbane for several years and even more so since Lai’s big win.

“We think they’ll be fabulous and really turn things up a notch for our ball and races.”

Tickets for the Black Toyota Ball go on sale on Australia Day 2019. Discounted race day tickets are also available on our Tickets Page.
